Our approach

Human augmentation, not abdication.

People often assume content at scale means low-quality, machine-written filler. Ours is the opposite: technology that amplifies what skilled writers and analysts can do — which is why every system we build starts with “Co.” They assist people. They do not replace them.

Full-lifecycle scalability

Not just authoring — the whole cycle.

Building an audience takes far more than publishing. Every step that turns data into durable traffic is automated to run for thousands of articles at a time, with people directing the work.

The system

Five systems, one data foundation.

01 · The brain

Data Library & Knowledge Graph

A custom ETL framework merges more than a hundred open, licensed, gathered, and crowd-sourced data sets into one graph of entities and relationships — schools, majors, careers, places, employers, people — with derived insights, grades, cohort statistics, and rankings computed on top. Writers query it directly, so discovery and iteration do not wait on engineering.

Content is only as good as the data behind it. This is the core that makes every other system intelligent.

02 · Content generation

CoAuthor

Professional writers and analysts build data-driven templates. Insights are calculated at the sentence level, so sentences fundamentally change with the facts; writer-authored variation keeps thousands of articles distinct. One template drives many articles — forever — with charts, images, and structured data generated alongside the prose.

Developed by writers, not algorithms. Objective, fact-based, and reviewed word by word before it scales.

03 · Distribution

CoPublisher

A cloud publishing engine renders millions of pages and images to fast static sites — with multiple environments, consistent permalinks, embeddable widgets, and outputs for email, PDF, and social — across as many branded sites as the audience needs.

Lightning fast for readers and search engines, inexpensive to host, and able to handle unlimited content.

04 · Promotion

CoPromoter

Content worth sharing comes first: unique facts invite references, insights invite sharing, and rankings give institutions something to be proud of. The system then identifies the validated micro-audience for each piece — the department, the local journalist, the counselor — and delivers personalized, valuable outreach at a natural cadence.

Newsworthy data releases drive links and mentions to evergreen content, year after year.

05 · Measurement

Content Investment Analytics

Traffic, engagement, search placement, backlinks, and revenue are combined at the keyword and URL level, then grouped by template, entity, and cohort. The result is a ranked list of the next best investments — which "almost there" collections to improve, what to expand, and what each change actually did.

Without a full picture across millions of articles, you are gambling, not investing.

Deep, differentiated content

Five things every page does with a fact.

A number on its own is not content. Each template is designed to do all five, which is why readers stay, share, and come back.

Verbalize

Turn data into written prose that communicates the insight.

Visualize

Charts and graphs that make the insight visible and shareable.

Contextualize

Is it good? Is it bad? How does it compare to its cohort?

Socialize

Personalized content people want to share with the people they know.

Personalize

The cuts and breakdowns that matter to this reader, right now.

Search strategy

Win the head terms through the long tail.

Most search demand lives in the specific, low-volume queries nobody targets by hand. Covering an entire topic in depth builds the authority that eventually wins the broad, competitive terms too.

Roughly 97% of search queries see fewer than fifty searches a month, and around 15% of daily searches are entirely new. Content written one article at a time can only afford to chase the popular terms — which is exactly where competition is fiercest and new pages take years to break into the top results.

Template-driven content flips the economics. When one well-designed template covers every entity, cohort, and location in a topic, the site becomes the deepest resource on the subject. Long-tail pages win quickly, earn links from the institutions and communities they describe, and lift the cornerstone pages above them. The head terms follow.

Authority flows upward

Head term
Mid-tail topics
Thousands of long-tail pages: every entity, cohort, comparison, and place

Links and topical authority accumulate at the base and lift everything above it.

Generative AI vs. Media Factual

Data-driven content without the risks of generative AI.

Both produce text at scale. That is where the similarity ends.

Generative AI compared with Media Factual
Criterion Generative AI Media Factual
Accuracy Bias, hallucinations, and false statements Deep, fact-driven knowledge graph
Trust Low; risks brand damage 100% verified, referenced sources
Insights Backward-looking restatement of existing text New calculations, comparisons, and predictions
Freshness Dated; infrequently updated Regenerated as data or strategy changes
Uniqueness Recombines what is already published Original analysis and reports
Engagement A single article with basic static charts Personalized visualizations and data products
Editorial control None without manual review of every article QA workflow and review of every word in each template
Architecture Isolated articles chasing isolated keywords Deep, interlinked topical clusters across pages and sites

Rankings

Rankings that earn their audience.

Rankings are the most shared, most linked, and most argued-about pages we publish. Ours are built to be defensible.

Unbiased and data-driven

No surveys, no pay-to-play. Rankings are calculated from the data, with published methodologies.

Outcomes focused

Completion, earnings, and placement outweigh reputation and selectivity.

Bottom-up

A school is a collection of its programs. We rank the program first, then roll up.

Everyone included

Every accredited option is ranked — not just the ones that answered a survey.

Frequently updated

Rankings refresh as the underlying data refreshes, and methodology improves over time.

Made to be shared

Badges, media kits, and release announcements give the ranked a reason to tell their audience.
